Rare Thai 7" vinyl record on 45 RPM on Sakesan Tape Records ('invention tape records').

On Side A we find the entertaining Thai lukthung song 'Angel of the Alley' (นางฟ้าประจำซอย) by Suchin Sinsongserm (สุชิน สินส่งเสริม). It's an ode to a beautiful girl Suchin remembers living in a small alley ('soi' in Thai). A good groove, funky hornstabs and a jazzy accompaniment round up this decent track. Suchin composed the song and wrote lyrics himself as well.
The real treasure is on the B-side, where we find the deeply touching soulful Isaan (Northeastern Thailand) lukthung song 'Don't Forget Isaan' (ไม่ลืมอิสาน). It's the kind of song the leader of the village would play at the start of the day in the early morning, around 5am, through the public speakers waking up the villagers to start the day with a good mood, and to feel proud of where they come from. The singer, Kwanthung Meuangthong (ขวัญทุ่ง เมืองทอง), sings about his love for Isaan, how beautiful the nature, culture and the girls are. The song & lyrics are created by Somsak Sribangchang (สมศักดิ์ ศรีบางช้าง).

Kwanthung Meuangthong specialized in thre genre of lukthung (meaning 'children of the countryside') and released several albums, and quite a lot of singles, in his career. He was associated with several record labels including Rose Media and Entertainment (โรส มีเดีย แอนด์ เอ็นเตอร์เทนเม้นท์) & Siang Siam (Sound of Siam) Record-Tape (บริษัท เสียงสยามแผ่นเสียง). The Thai Krishna-Brand label (ตรา กฤษณะเทพ), one of the most famous labels releasing many molam & lukthung classics, was a sublabel of Siang Siam. Sakesan Tape Records, also known as Seksan (บริษัท เสกสรรเทป-แผ่นเสียง or shortly เสกสรร) was another prolific lukthung label mainly active in the '80's & '90's.
