Very rare EP on 45 RPM 7" vinyl from Singapore in excellent condition!

This historic gem record contains 4 songs of Liu Zhong (刘忠), accompanied by the famous Travellers band, on the Sina label from 1972.
This Singapore record label was active from 1969 until 1978.
In the 1960s, many saw the lucrative business potential in the local Chinese pop music market which led to a mini boom in the industry. Small recording companies sprouted, attracting many aspiring singers. By the 1980s, Singapore rivalled Taiwan as the Mandarin pop capital in Asia, with its quality recording and production facilities.

The first track on this EP is titled 'Tears of the Prodigal Son', but will be immediately recognized as a cover of The Eagles' 'House of the New Rising Sun'.
Track A2 & B1 are also covers of famous surf/beat tracks of the '60's, all on a pyschedelic instrumental foundation by the Travellers band.

A translation of the Chinese lyrics of the first track of the EP:
"Why lock up innocent hearts? Why block true love? I have endured so much loneliness and coldness. Year after year, I look forward to it, year after year, who can heal my wounds? I have love and hate but nowhere to complain, so I can only remain silent. You are the star of my life, please light my future. I want to break through the darkness around me, I want to run towards you. Where is his voice? Where is his eyes? Who can bring me a message, asking him to give me the same pronunciation?"

Original 1972 pressing from Singapore is in excellent condition, and comes with the funky picture cover. A true collectors item!
