This classic release features two funky lukthung songs. 'Kid Tueang Lue' by legendary lukthung singer Plern Promdaen (เพลิน พรหมแดน) on side A, and 'Father Kai Jae' by singer Lop Burirat on Side B.
Plern Promdaen, his artist name, was born as Somsuan Promsawang (Thai: สมส่วน พรหมสว่าง) on 12 June 1939 in Aranyaprathet District, Prachinburi Province (now in Sa Kaeo Province) in the eastern part of Thailand. After primary school he helped his parents on their farm for a while, and became a novice monk at Wat Sawetchat, a Buddhist temple in Bangkok.
Because he always enjoyed singing he entered various singing contests at age 20, amongst other with the Ta Mee Group (คณะตาเหมือน) with whom he won the first price at a contest on the Military Radio Station. After this he joined the band of Chamrat Wipatawat, who changed Somsuan Promsawang's name to Plern Promdaen.
The first record he recorded was a song called "Abandoned Fields of Nang Loem" (ทุ่งร้างนางลืม) composed by Nyom Maniyat (นิยม มารยาท).
He became more famous in the 1970's, because of his great voice, funny lyrics and characteristic style of speaking on his records. This earned him the nickname 'King of Talking Songs'.
He also started acting in movies. In 1970 he played in his first movie, directed by Chalong Phakdeevijit, called 'Fon Tai', followed by 'Fon Nuea' and 'Raroengchon'. In 1979 he starred as the hero in 'Kaeng Ai Ploen'.
Hiss most well-known songs are "Chom Thung" (ชมทุ่ง), "Bun Pee Thin Nong Rak" (บุญพี่ที่น้องรัก), "Khon Dor Din" (คนเดินดิน), "Kon Mai Dao" (คนไม่มีดาว), "Don't Forget Thailand" (อย่าลืมเมืองไทย), "Khaosod" (ข่าวสดๆ), "A Tee Dragon tattoo" (อาตี๋สักมังกร), and "Let me get rich first" (ให้พี่รวยเสียก่อน).
In 2012 he was awarded as National Artist from Thailand. He died on 3 August 2024, at the age of 85.
