Original Isan-Thai 7" featuring two great songs with stylish '70's production.

On Side A we find 'Love On First Sight' by Sanya Phonnarai (สัญญา พรนารายณ์), produced by Thongchai Lekkampol (ธงชัย เล็กกำพล).
A fun midtempo lovesong in Isan (Northeast Thai) lukthung style from Sanya, who was a famous singer for many decades, and whose real name was Natthaphong Soisungnoen.
He was born in 1956 in Pak Chong, Korat district in Isan. His father owned a boxing gym and wanted him to box, but his greatest passion was singing.
At some point he entered a singing contest organized by Radio V.S.P. in Lopburi (Central Thailand) where his opponent was Nam-oi Phonwichian, who later became a singer in the same band, and is featured on the B-side of this 45.
He recorded his first song when he was 13 years old called 'Noom Chaw Rai' (หนุ่มชาวไร่). In this time he used the stagename Sanya Sayan.
Two to three months later in 1968 he scored his biggest hit, the song 'Sanya Muea Sayan' (สัญญาเมื่อสายัณห์).
His fame only lasted for a few years. At age 28 the Phonnarai band where he was part of dismantled, and he lost his passion for singing. He returned to his parents' home in Isan to take care of pigs.
At some point he found back enjoyment in singing, and started to record songs again for several record labels, like Rose Media. To his own saying he composed around 50 songs.

Side B contains the song 'This Is How I Am' by Nam Oi Phonwichian (น้ำอ้อย พรวิเชียร), who was born as Saranayawi Phuttarat in 1956 in Petchabun district in Isan (Northeast Thailand). She comes from a poor farming family and has 6 siblings.
She is a famous lukthung singer known for her deep and slow soulful songs, of which this heartfelt song is an excellent example.
She made many hit songs, often duets with male singers, such as "Siang Khruan Jak Suan Taeng" (Sound of Grief from the Melon Garden / เสียงครวญจากสวนแตง).
