Beautiful original Thai lukthung by Sorapet Sorsuphan from the 80's on 45 RPM!
Sorapet sings on Side A a song for his loved one. They love each other already for five years, but she doesn't let him touch her until they are married.
Side B is an ode to the amulet collector, a typical Thai phenomenon. Thai Buddhists are vivid lovers of Buddhist amulets. These are often worn as a necklace, or proudly exhibited in their homes. There is a lively trade of amulets up until this day, as can be seen at the famous Amulets Market next to the Royal Palace in Bangkok.
'Amulet Lover' is a great song in the traditional central-Thao lukthung style, with influences from Thai classical music and the use of some traditional instruments as well, like the takeh. Furthermore the intro starts with a useful open percussion break.
